Story
It Started in East New York.
I grew up in a Trinidadian family in East New York, Brooklyn. Our neighborhood had one corner store for groceries and a park the city had stopped taking care of. My mother refused to accept that. She organized our neighbors to start a food co-op, clean up the park and build an after-school program, and every Thanksgiving we cooked and handed out meals to people who had nothing.
She taught me that service isn't a title. It's what you do with what you have.
That lesson took me to public health, to more than a decade in uniform, to leading national programs in corporate America, and to building Blue DVSN. Different jobs, same mission: go to the source of the problem, do the work and leave it better.
Today I'm a father first, and faith and family keep me grounded. This site and the podcast are for the part of the story people leave off LinkedIn: the relationships, the setbacks, the mental health conversations most men avoid, and the everyday work of becoming the man I said I'd be.
